Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) — term cargoes CIF & FOB
PetroGlobal Group supplies LNG from 100,000 to 400,000 MT per month on term contracts — delivered CIF to your regasification terminal or lifted FOB by your carrier, with independent custody-transfer measurement on every cargo.
Prices are gross, indicative and quoted in USD. Firm pricing, discounts and commissions are confirmed in the FCO for each transaction.
What is LNG?
Liquefied natural gas is natural gas — predominantly methane — cooled to approximately −162 °C, at which point it becomes a liquid occupying about 1/600th of its gaseous volume. Liquefaction is what makes intercontinental gas trade by ship possible. Buyers are typically power utilities, national gas companies, and industrial consumers with access to regasification capacity. Cargo energy content depends on composition and is settled on the delivered MMBtu determined at custody transfer.
Typical cargo parameters
| Parameter | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Methane content | 87 – 99 % mol |
| Delivery temperature | ≈ −162 °C |
| Density (liquid) | ≈ 430 – 470 kg/m³ |
| Gross heating value | ≈ 1,050 – 1,150 Btu/scf |
| Nitrogen | ≤ 1 % mol (typical) |
Exact composition and heating value vary by liquefaction source and are certified at custody transfer; the contractual quality band is fixed in the SPA.
Supply & delivery terms
- Delivery basis: CIF (DES-style delivery to the receiving terminal) or FOB at the load port for buyers chartering their own LNG carrier.
- Scheduling: delivery windows agreed per the annual delivery program in the SPA; terminal berth compatibility confirmed before nomination.
- Measurement: custody-transfer metering with independent surveyor certification of quantity and composition.
- Frequent discharge regions: Southeast and East Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
- Payment: DLC, SBLC or MT103 as agreed; documents presented bank-to-bank.
Logistics & documentation
Dedicated LNG carriers are scheduled against the annual delivery program in the SPA, with terminal berth compatibility confirmed before each nomination.
Every cargo travels with a complete document set presented through the banks:
- Commercial invoice and full set of bills of lading
- SGS or CIQ certificates of quantity and quality
- Certificate of origin
- Ullage / tank inspection reports from loading
- Insurance certificate on CIF cargoes
How a transaction works
LNG follows the same documented sequence as our other commodities — ICPO → SCO → FCO → SPA → POP against payment instrument → loading & delivery — with terminal compatibility and the delivery program added at the FCO stage. The general sequence is explained in the trading procedure guide.
Frequently asked questions
What quantity of LNG can you supply?
From 100,000 to 400,000 MT per month on term contracts, delivered CIF to regasification terminals with suitable berth clearance or lifted FOB by the buyer's LNG carrier.
What is the LNG price per metric ton?
Gross indicative pricing is USD 400 per MT CIF and USD 390 per MT FOB. Firm pricing is confirmed in the FCO, referencing the delivery window, terminal and contract length.
What are the receiving requirements for a CIF LNG cargo?
The buyer must control or have throughput rights at a regasification terminal able to berth the nominated carrier. Terminal details form part of the ICPO so the discharge window can be scheduled.
How is LNG quantity and quality verified?
Loading is measured by custody-transfer metering with an independent surveyor (SGS or equivalent) certifying quantity and gas composition. Certificates travel with the documents through the banks.
How do I start an LNG purchase?
Issue an ICPO naming the receiving terminal, monthly quantity and target delivery window via the quotation form. The trading desk responds with an SCO within 24 hours on business days.
